回想起幾年前考上博士班之後，老師就一直要求投稿到研討會或學術期刊，那時心想，我怎麼可能會寫出像樣的文章呢，可是寫不出來也要擠出來，在指導教授指點之下，慢慢開始了解甚麼是做研究，雖然是班門弄斧，但也體會到了投稿的過程，研討會文章還好，因為是非正式的學術著作，大多會接受，但期刊就不同了，一篇文章從寫到投稿，往往就要好幾個月，之後還得等待審查，然後再修改，再審查。

出版流程開始於題材的產生，在題材方向確定後，便是與作者或是擁有版權之版權代理商談取版權的事宜。在取得版權之後，國外之原文書就必須尋找譯者做翻譯的工作，若是本土書則無需此流程。編輯必須與作者或譯者針對書的內文進行書稿的修改及文字潤飾的工作。通常在譯者翻譯完書稿或作者完成手稿之後，由負責宣傳活動的部門或負責人進行宣傳活動之規劃及執行。
